Devinne Facile is a math major who wants to teach and coach. She has worked very hard on her studies over the years and is looking forward to getting her degree at Dakota Wesleyan University. One of the major advantages Dakota Wesleyan offers students is that the Education department is connected to the L.B. Williams Elementary school, so the students don’t have far to go to get hands on teaching experience.

MITCHELL, S.D. – When practice starts in full swing for the Dakota Wesleyan University softball team after the holiday break, there will be a new face on the field with the Tigers.

Devinne Facile, a multi-position player from Sioux Falls, S.D., is transferring to Dakota Wesleyan for the spring semester and will join the Tiger softball team. She is currently a freshman at the University of South Dakota and is not playing softball.

Facile, who will be an outfield and utility player for the Tigers, played high school softball at Sioux Falls Roosevelt and also played club softball for the Sioux Falls Diamonds and the South Dakota Fusion organizations. Facile, who batted .337 this past year, is a math major with a 4.0 GPA who tutors math students in her spare time.

“For the past four summers, Devinne has played at a high level of competition in club ball, so she comes to us with great experience,” first-year Tiger head coach Ed Kieff said. “She is multi-talented and will add a lot of experience to our club right away, which is something we need going into the spring.

“With her ability to play infield and outfield, she gives the coaching staff a lot more flexibility as we try to find our best defensive team. She has good power at the plate and is a great bunter with good speed, which will help our lineup offensively this spring.”

Facile joins a Tiger squad that didn’t lose any players to graduation last May. This year’s team features four seniors, one junior, three sophomores and five freshmen. Dakota Wesleyan went 12-23 overall and 7-13 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference in 2011.
