Be a part of the 16U South Dakota Gold

If you are a fastpitch softball player born between 1999 and 2001 (16U eligible) and have the work ethic that it will take to pursue playing college level softball – we want to talk to you!  

Our goal is to put together the best softball players in the area who are willing to work hard under the direction of three highly qualified and “college-connected” coaches.   If you want to receive collegiate level skills instruction and want to be part of a cutting edge softball program please read the information below and reach out to one of these coaches.

Additional Team Information

Coaching staff:

Kim Bazata (Westendorf) – Head coach. Former pitcher at both SDSU and NDSU. She is top 5 in many school records and appeared in the NCAA Super Regionals. She has been head coach at Fridley, MN High school, and is the current head coach at Washington High School, Sioux Falls, SD.   Feel free to contact her with questions at 507-380-4862.

Ryan Soukup – Assistant coach. Current graduate assistant at Mizzou.  He has been on the Mizzou staff for three NCAA Super Regional appearances in the last five years.

Theresa McMahon – Winter hitting coach. Former Augustana University player and graduate assistant (2 years).  She holds many top 5 school records for her exceptional hitting and defensive abilities.

Zach Ely – Strength coach.  Zach is currently a personal trainer and will work with the team to improve overall strength, quickness, and short burst speed.

Support Staff:

Mike Wetrich – Recruiting Director/Social Media Director/Club Co-owner.  Mike will assist team members to create meaningful contacts with college coaching staff throughout the Midwest, and country, both electronically and on a personal level at tournaments.  Feel free to contact Mike with any questions about player profiles and college recruiting at 605-376-6911.

Ed Kieff – Recruiting Consultant/Club Co-owner.  He is the current DWU head softball coach.

Sandy Delker-Holbert – Team Manager/ Co-owner/President of the SF Diamonds.  Sandy grew up playing travel ball in the Sioux Falls area and then went on to play at Mount Marty College. She will be assisting the coaches, team members, and parents with all back office issues such as uniform ordering, team/tournament registrations, scheduling, team communication, etc.  Please feel free to contact her at 605-351-5276 with any questions.


Mission Statement:   The mission of the South Dakota Gold 16U showcase team (1999- 2001 eligible) is not to simply appear in or win tournaments, but to help its players realize their dream of playing college softball through elite coaching and meaningful, personalized promotion to college programs throughout the mid-west and country.

The cost per player will be $1500 which is non-refundable – Max of 15 girls on the Gold squad

Items covered by the player $1500 fee:

  • Coaches’ salaries
  • Coaches’ travel expenses (7 tournaments)
  • Core practice facility use
  • Team equipment
  • Tournament fees (7 tournaments)
  • Recruiting profile/Recruiting guidance
  • 12 Strength and conditioning sessions
  • Uniforms (jerseys, pants, socks, helmet, backpack)

Items NOT included in player fees of $1500:

  • National tournament or other tournaments that players want to add (entry fee, travel expenses, coaches’/trainer’s salary/expenses)
  • Player equipment (bats, gloves, facemasks, etc)
  • Any players’ family’s travel expenses
  • Lessons with coaches outside of team practice times
